Insecticide PEDESTAL Novaluron 10 % EC PEDESTAL, based on the active ingredient Novaluron, is a novel benzoylphenylurea insecticide active against larvae of insects of the orders Lepidoptera, Coleoptera, Homoptera and Diptera. It acts by inhibiting chitin formation. PEDESTAL acts mainly by ingestion, but has shown some contact activity. It does not have ovicidal activity, but a high percentage of mortality of first instars hatching from eggs laid on sprayed foliage occurs. PEDESTAL also suppresses fecundity. The product was found safe to major beneficial insects and may be used as a component in Integrated Pest Management (IPM). In India, it was found to be the best product for Spodoptera in many crops.
